Consular Legalization
Consular Legalization is required when a document from Bangladesh is to be used in a non-signatory country. In this case, following authentication by authorities in Bangladesh, the document must be certified a second time in Bangladesh by the embassy representing the country where the document is to be used.

Exceptions to the Apostille Convention - Bangladesh
The following countries have objected to the accession of Bangladesh to the Apostille Convention: Lithuania, Argentina, Denmark, France, Greece, Estonia, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Germany, Finland, Czechia. Bangladeshi documents required for submission to these countries may still require legalization by the embassy of the recipient country in Dhaka.

Bangladeshi documents required for Germany
The German Embassy in Dhaka will not legalize documents issued in Bangladesh. It is only possible to verify the authenticity and accuracy of documents if an authority in Germany submits a request to the Embassy. Requests for document verification cannot be submitted to the Embassy by individuals.

Certified Translation

Where Bangladeshi documents are to be used abroad and where the receiving country has a different official language, a sworn or certified may also be required.
